For children with cancer, any
virus can be a death sentence

Finding better, safer treatments for them is so important – especially now. Help the
Medlab team reach their fundraising goal for childhood cancer.

Medlab Clinical is an Australian medical research and development facility with a team of driven professionals endeavouring to deliver comfort to patient lives. We aspire to change not only the way you take medicine but the way you approach early to moderate stage chronic illnesses, such as cancer pain, depression, and diabetes.

The Medlab Virtual Conference is a two day symposium showcasing professional speakers renowned in their respective fields such as researchers, medical doctors and industry Leaders. Topics will encompass our core research areas: the applications and distinctions of medicinal cannabis, the microbiome and its influences and the significance and evidence of delivery platforms. Delegates will also have the opportunity to interact live and ask questions at the conclusion of each session.

Attendance to the symposium is free, instead we kindly encourage delegates to make a donation to the Children’s Cancer Institute to support our joint mission of curing childhood cancer. We have set a fundraising goal of $2,000.

Every week 20 children are diagnosed with cancer. These children are at grave risk – not just of the COVID-19 virus. Their weakened immune systems can make any infection life-threatening. Finding better, safer treatments for them is so important – especially now.

These are children like Harper, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia before she was two years old and has spent a third of her life in treatment. Her mother, Eliza, never stops worrying about her daughter. And right now, she worries more than ever.

Harper needs us. She relies on the real-time research programs we run to help her doctors assess her risk of relapse and identify the best treatment approaches for her.

With the current crisis, these life-saving programs are at risk of stopping, programs that directly help children like Harper survive. We urgently need your support to keep them going.

Programs like our Minimal Residual Disease testing program, which helps diagnose the high-risk cases of leukaemia in children like Harper, so we can give those children the very best chance of survival.

This test, developed by our researchers here at Children’s Cancer Institute, can identify one leukaemia cell in a million healthy cells. There are doctors around the country urgently waiting for the results of this testing that will determine the treatment approach that will give these children the greatest chance of survival.

But the current crisis is having a drastic impact on the funds we rely on to keep this research program going. With this loss of critical funding, cures will be left undiscovered.

Children like Harper are depending on our ability to keep our labs open and our research continuing.
